Jenson Button claims Logan Sargeant facing pressure over securing Williams seat for 2025

Apart from this, Button reflected upon Logan Sargeant’s performance during his early career in go-karting. The former world champion declared that the 23-year-old had talent and hence won so many races in karting. However, the sport is also highly dependent on the driver’s mental state and them being properly adjusted. According to Button, Formula 1 was a mental game overall.

He has the talent. He won everything, especially in the cards where the competition is so big. When I see that someone is so good at karting, I know that he has talent. It is also about whether you are mentally in the right shape, whether you are properly adjusted in your head. Because sport is a mental game overall.  Jenson Button noted.

Jenson Button claims Logan Sargeant needs to be ‘fully involved’ in F1

The 2024 season has been nothing short of a nightmare for Williams keeping in mind the recent few weekends. The team drivers crashed the chassis on multiple occasions and caused major problems. Alex Albon‘s crash in the Australian GP rendered his chassis unavailable for the race weekend. Hence, Albon drove Sargeant’s chassis and the latter had to sit out of the race.

Button asserted that Logan Sargeant had a really strong teammate in Albon. This was evident as the British-Thai driver had a lead of 26 points over his counterpart in the previous season. However, the two drivers currently are equal at zero points amidst the chassis fiasco at Grove. As a result, Button mentioned that the 23-year-old needed to be fully involved in racing to draw out a fair comparison.

He has a really strong teammate. You can say: Yes, that's hard because you have to be fully involved in every race. But that's what Formula 1 is about. If you don't fight the best, why are you there?  Jenson Button explained.

Hence, Williams would need to desperately work over their form since the season started and return back to scoring points. The team is currently last in the championship and would need to score some points soon. Moreover, Logan Sargeant needs to start scoring some results to ensure his stay with the Grove-based constructor in Formula 1.
