Kevin Durant takes NO OFFENSE to Anthony Edwards trash talk during first playoffs battle
Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The battle between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Phoenix Suns was intense. However, the most interesting part about the game was the trash talk Anthony Edwards dished out to his idol, Kevin Durant. The Suns superstar was asked about the incident in the post-game press conference.

When asked about his reaction to the trash talk after Edwards scored a 3-pointer, Durant said:

Yeah, it’s just basketball, not even playoffs, it’s just hoop. You get hot, you make shots, you make tough shots, you’re gonna feel excited about yourself. So, it’s on me to keep coming back and show em the tough look. Move on to the next play. He got it going, he made some tough ones. You gotta live with it, be better next game. In the latter minutes of the 3rd quarter, Anthony Edwards went on a hot shooting streak where he most of his attempts were going in. With a minute to go, he launched a 3 with Durant’s hand in his face. As the shot went down, Edwards started chirping and talking a lot of trash to Durant as he walked backwards.

Durant knows if the tables were reversed, he would be the one talking trash to Edwards. But what made it more entertaining was that Anthony Edwards has always maintained that Kevin Durant is his favorite player of all time. Being able to score over his idol is something any player will cherish.

Kevin Durant moving on to the next game

What Kevin Durant knows better than Anthony Edwards is to realign his focus and get back for game 2. He knows the state of the Phoenix Suns’ season banks upon his ability to win the next game. Even though Durant did his part tonight with a 31-point performance, he will demand his teammates to do better.

After all, they were the ones who could not back up Durant’s performance tonight. The 2-time NBA finals MVP will need all his teammates to produce enough to counter the hot-handed Minnesota Timberwolves.

Kevin Durant’s goal is to win another championship. For that, he will drown out the noise from this game and focus on the next task.
